Commenting on John Swinney's draft budget and the implications of it for local authorities, Joe said;

"Scotland needed an anti-austerity budget but instead we got one that is going to devastate local services and cost hundreds of public sector jobs here in North Ayrshire."

"It will be local communities who will suffer at the SNP's failure to offer an alternative to Tory austerity. They have the power to make different choices but have refused to do so.

"I believe now is the time to say that enough is enough and we wont just sit back and accept these cuts. We must come together and oppose them and I am ready to challenge John Swinney on his austerity choices."
