Joe has welcomed the news that the bus stop outside Hawthorn Place, Kilwinning has been added back onto the 320 bus service route.

Elderly residents of the sheltered housing complex had complained that the bus stop had been axed when the service was re-launched by Shuttle Buses in July. The bus stop will be added back onto the route from 13th October and will be served by one bus per hour.

Councillor Cullinane, whose campaign helped retain the frequency of the bus service when SPT had planned to cut it, said;

“I am pleased to hear that the bus stop will be added back onto the route as it will be of huge benefit to the elderly residents at Hawthorn Place.”

“I said at the time that I believed its omission was an oversight and I had talks with SPT to urge them to accept an amended plan that would put it back on the route. It would have been great if it had been added back onto both the 320 and 38 services but at least now my elderly constituents at Hawthorn Place will again be able to get their local bus directly outside the building.”
