Scottish Labour Councillor for Kilwinning

Reason 11: Save Hazeldene Horticulture

ENABLE have ran Hazeldene Horticulture, an employability scheme which has supported around 40 people each with learning difficulties each year employment.

When the service launched Joe visited it and was mightily impressed by the work they were doing.

It was announced that the service would be closing in March 2016. Within an hour of being informed Joe had held discussions with ENABLE and North Ayrshire Council about the closure.

He made it clear that no stone should be left unturned in an attempt to save the service > http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/kilwinning-training-service-disabled-users-7521589

Over the last few weeks Joe has continued to lobby the Council for action and is delighted that talks are progressing with Cunninghame Housing Association to develop a new service delivery model > http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/north-ayrshire-council-talks-rescue-7688763

Joe will continue to campaign on the issue until a deal is complete.
