Joe believes in and has campaigned for a publicly owned and run ScotRail.
In 2014 the SNP awarded the ScotRail franchise to Abellio, a Dutch state owned rail company.
They did so against the wishes of rail unions who, along with Scottish Labour, were calling for the contract award to be delayed to allow new powers to be devolved to the Scottish Parliament which would allow it to bring the contract back into the public sector.
Instead they rushed ahead and Scottish commuters rail fares are now used to subsidise cheaper fares and better railway services in Holland.
Joe will continue to campaign for a publicly owned and run ScotRail and as a Co-operative MSP will help explore options for Co-operative ownership (more details on that here > https://party.coop/scotrail
