Reason 2: Standing against college cuts

College budgets have been decimated by the SNP Government and, with a College in his Council ward, Joe has stood up against these cuts.

Over £56million, around 12% in real terms, has been cut from college budgets by the SNP since 2010 (Source: Audit Scotland).

As a result of these cuts, there are now 152,000 less college places in Scotland under the SNP (source: Scottish Funding Council).

And Colleges Scotland revealed that between 2009/10 and 2012/13 there were 6,925 less staff working in our colleges and learning hours had been reduced by 9.7million hours per year (source: Colleges Scotland)

Joe recognises the importance of HE. It gives people, young and old, the chance to learn and re-skill to improve their employment prospects. He will always stand up for the sector and work to see Ayrshire College flourish.
