In February it was announced that the AMP Control factory in Irvine would close in June with the potential loss of 60 jobs.
Immediately following the announcement Joe was in contact with Unite the Union to discuss the matter. He then wrote to AMP, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and North Ayrshire Council about the imminent closure asking for immediate action to prevent it.
This announcement followed job losses at HOWCO and planned losses at Red Cross House and others. The job loss toll has reached around 600 in recent months.
Joe continues to put pressure on Government and its agencies to do everything possible to save jobs at AMP Control. He has also pledged to do more to support workers as an MSP, including working on democraticisng the economy through Workers Co-operatives > http://www.joecullinane.co.uk/workers_co_operatives_could_save_local_jobs_and_services
