Reason 3: Standing up for jobs at HOWCO

Reason_6_.png

Over the last 6 months, 50 jobs have went at Irvine plant HOWCO.

These jobs losses came less than two years after the Scottish Government announced that the company would be offered up to  £750,000 of public money to create 67 new jobs.

These new jobs never materialised although, through a Freedom of Information request, Joe revealed that £335,000 of public money was given to the company > http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/irvine-firm-sacked-50-workers-7396266

But was the only return on that investment 50 P45's?

Well the FOI did not give much information about what the money had been spent on and what benefits, if any, it delivered for our community!

Joe has been holding Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government to account on the issue and is continuing to pursue it.

He will always stand up for local jobs and decent work.
